You have a question? Someone else might have had the exact same one. Let's find out!
Yes. I recommend that you let your civic leaders and fellow citizens know you would like to have meetings Live Streamed. It will help to have a number of citizens make your desires known. Citizen Access TV is available for hire on a meeting by meeting or contract basis. If your civic group refuses to Live Stream the meetings let us know. We can make arrangements to Live Stream your meeting at no charge.
The donation button is primarily for citizens of Half Moon Bay. We Live Stream the City Council and Planning Commission meetings and receive no compensation from the City of Half Moon Bay for tis service. We hope to cover the cost of bandwidth used at these meetings. (Typically $100 per month)
Yes we can! We can provide equipment and training so that you can Live Stream your meeting. We do require you to pay for bandwidth used. You can figure on $10 per hour. We do recommend that you let your civic leaders know that you want these meetings Live Streamed. If they refuse then contact us.
That is a question you need to ask the Half Moon Bay City Council. As best as I can guess.... the owners of Citizen Access TV have expressed their opinions in the past in local chat rooms and by creating satire videos. We have offered to Live Stream the PCTV broadcast but PCTV refuses to work with us. As far as adding name tags (lower thirds) PCTV could do this if they chose to. The City of Half Moon Bay could create an archive of their meeting videos with agendas but so far have chosen not to.
There are many ways to help but the most important is to attend your civic meetings and ask questions and tell your civic leaders what you want. Hold them accountable for what they say and do.
I HOPE NOT!!!! But if you express your opinions some people may get angry and choose to act crazy. Most people are rational and believe in the right of free speech but unfortunately that is not always the case. We do not want anyone to have their civil rights infringed upon and will not let these nut cases stop us. Don't let them stop you!
"Citizen Access TV provides an essential tool for civic participation in local government. The network live-streams San Mateo County political events, and particularly live "gavel-to-gavel" coverage of government proceedings that impact the Coastside."- Sabrina Brennan - SMCHD Commissioner
“Citizen’s Access TV provides exactly what it says. Excellent Transparency and great tool for all of our citizens to become more involved in our local government. Good job!"- Deborah Penrose - HMB City Council
"Citizens Access TV is a valuable asset to San Mateo County. Dan & John Ullom should get acknowledged by our cities and county officials for the service they have provided in public meetings. What more can I say, other than thank you!"- Mark De Paula
"Citizen Access TV is #1! Nobody does a better job than John and Dan at capturing the breakdown of city council civility or my ramblings on local issues."- Debbie Ruddock - Vice Mayor Half Moon Bay
"The Ulloms have shone a bright light on what many of our local government agencies would prefer to keep hidden. Their taping of meetings, exposure of poor practices (and sometimes downright fraud) through PRA requests and dogged research are helping to make us all more aware of what needs to be fixed in government. We need more Dan and John Ulloms."- Harvey Rarback - Coastside Fire Protection District Director
"I am so Thankful for Dan and John Ullom owners of ThisSideOfTheHill.Com and this website. As a 65 year resident of San Mateo County, and a private victim's advocate for the last 15 years I recognize the value and importance of having a secure and safe place for citizens to be able to communicate. A place where serious subjects can be discussed, and the importance of knowing that your post will not be edited or deleted.
I fully support Citizen Access TV, This website will make San Mateo County Safer"
